- intrusion with ccCommon pop-up

When trying to open Word/Access/Excel there is a pop-up headed "Windows
Installer". The box is filled with "Preparing to Install" with the usual
blue computer logo.
Then another window headed "ccCommon"; the message is "Please wait while
Windows configures ccCommon."
Finally a ccCommon pop-up states "the feature you are trying to use is on a
CD-ROM insert the ccCommon disk and click OK"
Cancelling takes some time and this pop-up may come up more than once, after
the final cancel the Doc finally appears.
What can i do to avoid all this and open a program?
Any and all help is much appreciated.

ccCommon is part of Norton. What's probably happening is that your Norton
AV install is incomplete or damaged, or partially uninstalled, and the links
to open the doc are trying to call what's not quite there anymore.
To fix this you need to fix either your install of Norton or your uninstall
of Norton.
