- Key Lock Indicator
- Posted by RogerBecker@gmail.com on October 25th, 2005
Suddenly, whenever I press one of the Lock keys (Num Lock, Scroll Lock
or Caps Lock), I get a small, gray box in the lower, right corner of my
screen - just above the clock in the system tray - indicating the
status of the lock key.
For example, when I press Num Lock, the box appears and says, "NUM
LOCK: ON" or "NUM LOCK: OFF".
I have tried turning all the Accessibility options on and off again,
and re-installed my keyboard driver (Microsoft Natural Pro), to no
avail.
I've read a couple of messages on various newsgroups about this
problem, but I haven't found a fix.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That's normal if you've installed Intellitype Pro.
You can disable it within the Intellitype Pro options (in the Keyboard
control panel).

I've been using this keyboard for four years, and I've never seen it
before.
What's more, there is no Intellitype Pro options - I've never installed
the software. I'm using the generic Windows drivers.

The 'problem' is probably related to the BlueTooth tray program
(BTtray). When I kill this program the indicator disappears.

Disable it by REGEDIT:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Widcomm\BTConfig\Gener al\KeyIndication
Switch to 0 and reboot.
