In an attempt to reboot a Windows XP computer, an error occurrred and
displayed "last attempt to restart the system from previous location failed"
error message. The computer will not boot up anymore for this error message.
Any ideas of what might be causing this and how it can be resolved without
losing data that is on the hard drive?
thanks!

Press F8 on restart, and choose Safe Mode. Run a System Restore.
