Lost Association for Adobe PDF Reader?
Posted by Al Franz on October 16th, 2005

Using WinXP and my PDF files are no longer associated to the Adobe Acrobat
Reader? I look in the associations window that pops up and there is no PDF
icon. Where should the 7.0 Reader be located, only file I can find is
AcroRd32.exe which uses IE Explorer to open PDF's, which I don't want.

The icon for opening Adobe Reader does not show a file path I can use to
associate files? Using WinXP SP2 with Adobe Reader 7.0.5.

From Adobe's site:

Repair Acrobat or Adobe Reader.

If you repair Acrobat, you need the Acrobat CD-ROM (or access to the
installation files on a network) to complete this solution.
To repair Acrobat or Adobe Reader:
1. Choose Start > Settings > Control Panel (Windows 2000, NT, 98) Start >
Control Panel (Windows XP), and then double-click Add/Remove Programs.
2. Click Change or Remove Programs, and then click Adobe Acrobat [version
number] or Adobe Reader [version number] .
3. Click Change/Remove or Change.
4. In the Setup dialog box, click Next, select Repair, and then click Next.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the repair.
