- Monitor shuts down when computer starts up
- Posted by Melgeu on March 31st, 2006
My computer was working fine when it was last shut down, but now when I turn
it on the display on the monitor works fine for most of the login process,
but then the monitor just shuts down. I know that the monitor is shutting
down rather than the screen going blank because the light on the monitor is
yellow rather than green. If I open in safe mode the monitor works fine, so
I am pretty sure that it is not a problem with the monitor itself. I have
tried system restore which did not help. I have done a system recovery which
seemed to work, went through the whole set up and said that it was going to
restart - same problem happening. I have run chkdsk in dos and no problems
were found. Any ideas?

Hi,
1) Run anti-virus (AVG7) and anti-spyware (Adaware & Spybot) programs to see
what they come up with;
2) Run 'HiJack This' to see whether you've acquired any extra 'facilities',
and if those fail
3) Try reloading your display driver from the installation CD.
Good luck
