new XP Pro Sound Card HELP!!!
Posted by Carmi0018 on November 19th, 2005

Heloo ANYONE! I just installed XP Pro and I don't get any sound on my
computer. I have trouble shot everything ( it claims my sound card is working
properly) yet when I check the device manager or try to play something on
media player I get a message saying there is no sound device. When i go to the
Master Volume settings, it says that there is no Mixing Device connected. The
device manager says that there is a realtech"97 card there with the codecs
etc...
Can Anyone make any sense of this and offer me any advice?
Thanks!!!

Did you upgrade to XP Pro from another OS? If so, it's possible that you
need a newer driver version.

Check bio settings , check mute setting in sound properties , reload latest
XP sound driver for your sound card . Good Luck . JJ

What sound card do you have or are you using onboard sound?

did you just upgrade, repair, or new install?

what claims your sound card is good?

What shows for sound card in Device Manager?
What does it show for sound in Control Panel?
