Sorry for yet another visit of this topic, but most seem to deal with
existing installations gone bad and mine is for a new computer build (first
one - which might explain my problems). Here is the story:
Everything was okay until got midway through process of installing XP
Professional - initial setup was okay and I had it format a partition of my
HD. When it started the actual installation of XP my problems began - the
process went increasingly slowly and eventually hung up (over 90 minutes and
only 40% installed). I think this was my fault because I have a SATA HD and
it was being recognized as IDE in BIOS. In any event, I couldn't get the
computer to respond (at least I didn't know how to), so I had to reboot and
this is when I began to get "NTLDR is missing" message.
My problem is that I am now unable to boot from any device because of this
NTLDR issue, so I don't know how to fix the problem. Any ideas would be
GREATLY appreciated!
