- NVTDM CPU encountered illegal instruction
- Posted by ronashill on October 1st, 2005
When I start Windows I get the following message, which also appears when I
run elements of the Control Panel. The problem appears to be preventing my PC
recognising new hardware eg USB connection to a mobile phone or a broadband
ADSL modem.
C:\Windows\system32\rundll.exe
The NVTDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction

Can I fix this without reinstalling Windows? I have told I might need to
edit the Registry but don't have a clue how to do this.
