OE6 Address book
Posted by geggy on November 27th, 2005

My computer re-booted itself last night, and now I get several error msg's
when I try to make a new email: "unable to open address book. Address book
may not be installed properly". Or "OE incorrectly configured. reinstall
OE". OR, sometimes, "There was an error opening this message. An error has
occured"! I also get this msg when trying to open a received email.
I cannot reinstall OE6 as I only have a restore disc for the computer & not
a WinXP disc. ( I do have MS office 2000 which I think has OE on it, could I
use that?). I've tried a system restore, but got a msg that it had failed and
no changes had been made. I can still receive emails, I just can't reply to
them! I need to get the AB back without losing any emails, and without doing
a complete reinstall, if poss.
I've looked a bit into the problem and found what seems to be an error code;
code 0xc0000005. I've also been through the help section on XP; I renamed the
address book and went to the next section which says "insert your Windows XP
disc....". So, not having one I changed it back.
I even bit the bullet and called the support line, (@ £1 per minute), to be
told after about 15 minutes, that my computer was out of warrenty and they
can't help!
So, any ideas please?
