- "open" box problem
- Posted by ALEX M. on April 25th, 2008
When I go to open a photo in a photo program, or attach a photo in an email
program, the usual box opens up, where I can browse to the correct folder.
Starting about a week ago, the files in the folders I look in are no longer
in alphabetical order. This, happens even though I have made sure that the
files in those folder are set to "Arrange by name".
Anyone know how to fix this problem?
Thanks
Alex

I dunno, but have you tried
START > CONTROL PANEL > FOLDER OPTIONS > VIEW tab and RESET ALL FOLDERS?

Problem solve by using this suggestion--
1. Double click on the folder name you want so you open the folder.
2. Click on the icon "Views" (last icon on your top bar).
3. A list will open, click on Details at the bottom of this list.
4. What you should see now is a list of your files under columns with the
following headers: Name, Size, Type, Date modified, etc.
5. Click on any of these column headers. If you click on Name, the file are
sorted by name. If you click on Size, the files are sorted by size, etc.

You are just manually forcing an issue that you should not have to do.
When I reload my PC's, I never like the display option that MS uses for
default in explorer. I like details in name order and I like to view
the hidden folders, lah de dah. So I immediately pull up 'my
computer' then do as earlier instructed, go to tools->folder
options->view, and fix it, and then apply those changes and then apply
it to all subfolders. I now get any view of any folder the same
constant way. Except if I change one, which is again part of the view
settings to allow each folder to remember their individual settings.
