i am having problems with my dell laptop
1. when i start windows in normal mode everthing is black except for the
icons on the screen
2. i am only able to start in safe mode
3. i am getting a lot of error messages pertaining to the system32 folder
5. when i use system restore i am given a limited number of restore points
4. so my question is how do i restore/uninstall then install the operarting
system completely

Hi Anitra,
Pick a restore points that dates to before the problem started.

Safe mode has a black background if that's what you mean.
If you want to re-install Win XP, boot from the Installation disk and follow
the instructions.
