- Ost Desktop Shortcuts
- Posted by Will on October 19th, 2005
When bringing up my computer yesterday, I received a message saying I had a
malicious code file named "Prism.exe". The message said I needed to delete
it. I did plus two other files (Prisminstall.exe and Prism.dll) - I think
the last two filenames are correct.
Now, my desktop shortcuts have disappeared.
I am using Windows XP Pro with SP2.
Can anyone help me get my shortcuts back?

This behaviour occurs if the Show Desktop Icons feature is turned off.
1. Right-click the desktop.
2. Point to Arrange Icons By and then click Show Desktop Icons.
To add the My Computer, My Network Places, Internet Explorer, and My Documents icons
back to your desktop:
1. Right-click the desktop, and then click Properties.
2. On the Desktop tab, click Customize Desktop.
3. Under Desktop icons, click to select the check boxes of the icons you want to
view.
4. Click OK two times.

Thank you but I can't right click on the desktop. Nothing happens.
