- Outlook/Norton problem
- Posted by Boogie on April 23rd, 2006
When I try to open my outlook mail get the following message:-
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'mail.northrock.bm (1)',
Server: 'mail.northrock.bm', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No,
Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E.
If I reboot I can send and receive mail once, but after the initial time I
get the same error message back. I have checked my settings and they
appeara/c.
At the same time I have a windows security alert stating that Norton
Antivirus reports that it is installed, but its status is unknown.
If I click on my desktop NAV icon nothing happens, likewise if I try to open
NAV from start/ programs. If I right click on an individual file I can run a
NAV check, but I cannot open NAV to checkmy settings. Also I ran Live Update
and it failed to install some of them.
I have uninstalled NAV from add/remove programs and installed it again using
a Nav WinRAR self extracting archive I have on my desktop. But the same
problems exist afterI have re-installed.I do not have a NAV CD.
I would appreciate any assistance and suggestions.
Thanks

Boogie;
A couple of questions: Outlook or Outlook Express? NAV 2004/05/06?
Are you having issues with the Web too or JUST e-mail? Have you made sure
your systems e-mail options are not set to "hangup after send / receive?

Thanks c2ttech
I have outlook express and Nav 2004. I have actually removed my NAV
completely and replaced it with eTrust EZ Antivirus and my system is working
fine. My e-mail settings were not set to "hangup after send / receive" by the
way. I was only having problems with e-mail not the Web. I guess my NAV was
corrupted.
