- from overnight, computer asks for password - HDD light stays on
- Posted by DaveG on January 27th, 2006
Two things:
1. if I leave my computer on overnight, when I press a key in the AM,
there's a pop-up saying that I have to supply my password.
Can I avoid this?
2. After this happens, the hard light drive stays on until I reboot.
I've opened the box and looked and the individual drive lights are NOT
on nor are the disks seeking/working or making any noise whatsoever.
Everything is functional and all hard disk diagnostics report no
problem.
What is this? (It's a SCSI drive system)

1. Check the following settings:
Go to Control Panel.
Double click Display.
Click on the Screen Saver tab.
Make sure "On resume, password protect" is unchecked.
Next, hit the Power button.
This should bring up "Power Options Properties".
Click on the Advanced tab.
Remove the check mark from the box next to "Prompt for password
when computer resumes from standby".
Click OK twice.
2. I couldn't even give you a good guess.
Good luck
