Have a problem MS says has no resolution:
User has Verizon i700 by Samsung running Windows Pocket PC Phone Edition, v
3.x, and syncs with XP Pro SP2 desktop using Active Sync v 3.x. Email
program: Outlook 2003. In December, user experienced difficulties with is
i700 and Outlook; short version: user blew away his Outlook, did a reinstall,
then synced with his PDA. Result: Contacts db now gone and of course he did
not do a backup.
User now has a Verizon XV6700 running Windows Pocket PC Phone Edition, v.
5.0, and syncs with the same desktop via Active Sync, v 4.1.
On the desktop's hard drive, there are two .dat files: outstock and repl.
Opening outstock file with Notepad shows the lost Contacts db.
Here is Microsoft's response to my problem:
Below is a brief summary of the case:
==============================
Action
=====
You want to import data from repl.dat and outstore.dat
=========
Result
=====
You want to know if it is possible to do that
=========
Cause
=====
You did not take a backup of your data
=========
Resolution
=========
There is no way you can import data from repl.dat and outtore.dat file.
End of response
My question: how to I get this data imported into either Outlook 2003 or the
Pocket PC and then sync the two systems?
PS: User actions were taken when I was unavailable; now I have to fix the
situation.
