- Port 443
- Posted by BF on January 23rd, 2006
Can anyone tell me how I open Port 443?
I am using Norton Internet Security 2005.
I can`t see any obvious way of turning ports on or off, so any help
greatly appreciated.
Thanks

To add port 443 in Norton Internet Security:
1. Open Norton Internet Security
2. Click Options
3. Click Internet Security
4. Firewall Tab
5. Go to "http port list" section
6. Click Add and select 443

Iceman
Thanks for your reply.
I have added the port but when I checked the status via
http://grc.com/port_443.htm
it gives me the Status as "Stealth" which I interpret as it being
blocked.
On the Firewall Tab I deselected the "Stealth Blocked Ports" but this
has made no difference.
Any other suggestions?

The information you were given came from the Symantec support site. Why not
use it, or your help menu?

Can you access secure sites on Port 443? If you can, then obviously the
port isn't blocked.
If you have XP Service Pack 2, you might consider disabling the Norton
firewall and use the Windows firewall.
