Problems after installing SP2
Posted by Lynn W on October 5th, 2005

Well I finally took the plunge tonight and installed SP2. Got the
latest updates etc had many Restarts after each update I did but all
seemed well. I was very relieved. Powered off, came back to it to
restart and all I got was the Window sign with the little blue bar
scrolling and the hard disc had stopped. I tried powering down again,
no joy. I did Ctrl+Alt+Del still no joy. In the end I just held the
power button down for ages and at last it powered down, when I then went
to restart, I got a screen with a message saying that Windows was unable
to start and it was probably due to some software I had installed etc.
It said about going to last known working configuration but if I didn't
know what the problem was then to restart normally. Before I had chance
to make a decision it started on its own.
Also if I don't have my wireless card plugged in as I start the machine
up, when I do slot it in it then cant get a Network Address, I think
that was what it said. Had to power down again and restart with the
card slotted in and all was well again. Anyone have any ideas on what I
need to do now or could it have just been a one off? This was what I
dreaded happening and why I didn't want to install SP2, I'm a great
believer in if it's not broken don't fix it.
If I keep having problems will I be able to use System Restore to go
back
to before SP2?
