- Reinstalling XP on Reformatted Laptop
- Posted by LAD on January 17th, 2006
My husband's company just gave away several surplus Dell Latitude C640
laptops to employees. The hard drives have been reformatted. They came with
a CD to reinstall XP Professional. We have the product code.
I've used setup to change the primary boot drive to the CD/DVD drive. The
CD appears to be bootable (I looked at it on my own Dell desktop at home.)
However the only message on the screen is "No bootable devices."
Suggestions would be appreciated. (BTW, I'm a long time Dell user and have
purchased many new desktop units for myself and family members over the
years.)

Shows how little you know about computers. Dell laptops display a boot order
when F12 is pressed during boot up.
