- share folders
- Posted by Lange Delay on December 19th, 2005
Hello,
I am unable to share files and folders on a Microsoft Windows XP
Professional SP2 computer named computer "A".
1. Using computer "A" I right clicked "shared documents" (C:\Documents
and Settings\All Users\Documents).
2. clicked "properties".
3. clicked tab "Sharing".
4. Checked both "Share this folder on the network" and "Allow network
users to change my files".
I tried to copy a file from computer "B" to computer "A".
The error "cannot copy unknown:access denied".
I don't understand why I can't copy a file to a folder I set up to
share on computer "A"?
Can you please offer suggestions?
Thank you.

You need to make sure that your guest account is enabled. Go to your
control panel, open the Users control panel, and make sure that the
Guest account is enabled.

Hello,
I enabled my guest account & I still get the same error.
If you have any other suggestions I would appreciate hearing them.
Thank you.

Try turning off the Windows Firewall, or any other firewall software
that you may have on your machine.
