It looks as if you have Automatic Updates configured to
download and install any updates overnight, is that correct?
I'd say your system is not getting along very well with a
recent update.

You can try the following:
Go back and run System Restore to remove the updates.
Once that's done, go to Windows Update and see what critical
updates are available. Write down the KB number of each update
listed.
Next, instead of having them installed all at once through
Windows Update, go to this web site to obtain the individual
updates:

http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.co...en/default.asp

Click on "Find updates for Microsoft Windows operating
systems".
Select "Windows XP SP2" in the "Operating system" box.
Hit the Search button.
Click "Critical Updates and Service Packs" to view the
available updates.
Click on Sorted by -> Posted date to bring the most recent ones
to the top of the list.
Note: If some of the updates you need aren't found look under
"Recommended Updates"
Once you've found all the updates, click on "Download Basket"
and save the files to a handy location on your hard drive.

Note: You can also obtain the individual updates by doing a
search in the Microsoft Knowledge Base using the KB number
associated with the update.

Once you've got all the available updates, install them one at
a time and reboot. This should allow you to narrow down which
update is causing the problem.

Good luck

By "doesn't help" do you mean to say that you scanned your system with at
least half a dozen (yes) online spyware scanners and, absent any hits, you
submitted your Hijack This log for evaluation and, with nothing detected,
you tested your system for rootkits with Sysinternals' Rootkit Revealer and
found that your computer was 100% free of any kind of malicious spyware?
