- Sony memory stick is recognized OK but not show in explorer
- Posted by mbekkali on May 20th, 2006
I have Sony memory stick MSA-32A that is recongized property (as Ricoh but
that should not matter) by Windows MCE (in devices, computer information and
pretty much everywhere) except that explorer does not show it. It is supposed
to be assigned a driver letter and shown in the explorer. I reinserted many
tiimes, reinstalled driver/restarted but that did not help. Removable storage
service is started so no problem here. I have an icon in the deskbar showing
removable storage when memory stick is inserted. Very strange problem, please
advise.

Find solution: It turns out that windows assigned memory stick letter of one
of my existing network disks without even changing the name, i.e. I had disk
E shown as \\name and it is still shown as network disk but memory card took
over the name and now opening disk E opens memory stick instead of network
drive. Something is messed up with windows xp mce for allowing this.
