- sorting toolbar items
- Posted by KB on November 21st, 2005
Hi all,
I made a folder on my desktop called Toolbar where I keep shortcuts to
programs and folders, then went to Taskbar/Toobars/New Toolbars then
made a new toolbar from the Toolbars folder. I then drag the toolbar to
the left side of my screen. I have been doing this for some time and
like having the toolbar to pop out from the side of my screen when I
need it.
My problem/question is, is there any way to sort the items on the
toolbar. I am always adding shortcuts to my toolbar, but other than
manually alphabetizing them there is no way I know to sort them.
Suggestions?

On the View menu, point to Arrange Icons by | Name
In details view, by default Windows Explorer displays files and folders in
ascending order.
To sort items using a different column..
In the Contents pane, click the category that contains the items that you
want to sort.
To sort items in ascending or descending order, click the column heading,
notice which way the arrow is pointing.

Guess this is a hard one to explain. I have a folder called Toolbar that
contains my "shortcuts". I make a new toolbar of my shortcuts then drag
it to my lefthand screen. As I add new programs, I drag shortcuts from
those to my Shortcuts Toolbar. What I would like to do is sort by name
the items in my toolbar (but I can only do so in the folder the toolbar
points to and not in the toobar itself. Thus, changes in the Toolbar
folder doesn't change the shortcuts in my shortcuts toolbar).
Thought there might be a registry setting that could it perhaps.
Again, thanks.

Now there's an idea.
Spend $25 for something that has nothing to do with the question.
