start menu missing

Hi

Try a System Restore back to a point before the problem started. Run the
following command from Start>Run:

%SystemRoot%\System32\restore\rstrui.exe

If 'Run' is missing use:

Winkey + R

My start menu is missing. How can I get it back? I scanned for viruses,
and I don't have any. Spybot and Adaware couldn't find anything else
harmful. What should I do?

If you are talking about a missing taskbar, hit the Windows (between the
ctrl and alt keys) and go to the control panel. Then, double click on
Taskbar and Start menu. The first option is to lock the taskbar, uncheck the
box and click Apply. Then, take your mouse to the very bottom of the screen
until you see an up and down double arrow as your pointer. Click and hold
the left mouse button and move the mouse up. You should be able to see the
taskbar, start button and all, after that. Make sure you recheck the box
that says "Lock the Taskbar" so it doesn't happen again by accident. Of
course, if the taskbar is gone, autohide is either enabled, or the "lock the
taskbar" option was already unchecked.
