- Posted by David on December 18th, 2005
Hello,
I have an DELL Dimension 2350 Computer running XP Pro. After installing some
updates, at least that is what they told me, everytime I boot up and login I
received this error:
STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error} The windows logon process system
terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000005
I can only login using Safe with Command prompt. Here are the patches I
have installed:
KB810217
KB820291
KB821253
KB823182
KB824105
KB824141
KB825119
KB826939
KB828035
KB828741
KB835732
KB837001
KB839643
KB840374
KB842773
(SP2) Q811114
(SP2) Q819696
I am trying to resolve the problem without losing program info. Any help
would be great. THANKS.

I'm having this identical problem after installing updates on
2005-Dec-18.
My machine is a component assembled (non-branded) P4 box, the
components are all very high quality, it's not hardware related as it
boots
into the testing WinXP install (not updated yet) just fine.

I cannot even login to Safe Mode with that install, I get a continual
reboot
unless I F8 and select the option to 'don't restart on system failure'.
This is the second time in 3 months that updates have caused my
computer
to stop working.
Someone from Microsoft better have a good idea how to address this
problem
and soon. Those Mandrake discs are starting to look really good right
about
now.
