- Toolbar menu unclickable and Address Bar missing in Windows Explor
- Posted by JoeyJoJo on October 31st, 2005
My tool bar menu in both Internet and Windows explorer are 'ghosted', and
cannot be clicked either when opening the menu via View->Toolbars or when
right-clicking on the toolbar. The Address bar in Windows Explorer is also
missing and I cannot enable it because I cannot click to check it.
I have run adware/spyware (XoftSpy), virus scanned (McAfee), tried deleting
the registry keys as per other similar posts and run the ToolbarFix program
linked in these forums also. Still have ghosted menus.
Any ideas?

Hi,
From http://www.jsifaq.com/subD/tip1900/rh1976.htm
Did you search the registry for these values?
NoToolbarCustomize
NoBandCustomize
Btn_Tools
NoToolbarOptions
NoAddressBar
If you find *any* of these restrictions, I would run a very thorough malware
check.
Start at:
Dealing with Unwanted Spyware and Parasites:

You will want to run Ad-aware, Spybot and (if running WinXP) MS Anti-Spyware
(Beta.)

You may have to post a HijackThis log to one of these forums for additional
help. Look for the proper forum and an "Important- Read This First" message
so that you follow proper procedure.

You should not be deleting registry keys.
Do you have a third party toolbar installed?
Is this a standalone or networked computer? Are you the only person
using the computer?

Hope this helps.
