- Turning off the touch pad
- Posted by chris19 on December 2nd, 2005
I have a Dell Latitude D810 with operating system Microsoft Windows XP
Professional.
I used to have an icon for the touchpad on my screen on the toolbar next to
the clock. It is no longer there, nor is it hidden because it's inactive. I
can't find anything about it in the control panel (perhaps I don't know
exactly where to look?) and I can't find anything about it in the support
provided by the computer. How, then, do I go about turning off the touch
pad? How do I access the controls for it?

Go to this Dell site and download the User's guide for you
laptop:
http://support.dell.com/support/edoc...ug/usersgd.chm
Enter touch pad in the search box. Double click on "Using the
Keyboard and Touch Pad" in the results box. In the right hand
pane, scroll down to "Customizing the Touch Pad". According to
Dell, you can go into Control Panel, double click on Mouse and
disable the touch pad per the instructions.
Good luck

Go into the notebook BIOS.

I am having problems too and the owner's manual did not help. Told me to go
into the mouse file and there would be a "touch pad" tab and then I could
adjust the settings there but there is no "touch pad" tab so I am stuck. Did
you have similar problem and if so, how did you fix it?
Thanks.
