- Unable to open local .PHP files
- Posted by Eli Luong on February 4th, 2006
In Firefox, previously I was able to open .php files in Firefox fine. Now,
however, whenever I try to open local .php files, Firefox just wants to
download them. I can open them in Internet Explorer perfectly fine. PHP pages
online open fine (but sometimes they want to be downloaded also), but local
PHP files just want to be downloaded from firefox. Someone suggested the MIME
type associations were changed. I checked under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.php and
the (default) value was "phpfile" and "Content Type" I had to change to
"text/html" - but this still did not fix the problem. Anyone have a solution?
I've upgraded to the Firefox released this month (1501), but it still doesn't
help. It all occurred after an upgrade of Dreamweaver, but uninstallation of
that program doesn't do anything, either. I'd like to refrain from a system
restore, if possible.
Thanks.

Why aren't you asking in a Firefox forum?

I have tried but their suggestions did not help.

Eli,
Wow... I just installed the trial version of Dreamweaver & I'm now
having the exact same problem. Used to be able to view local PHP files
without any problems.
Did you find a solution?
Let me know.
Thanks!
