- USB external hard drive not assigned drive letter
- Posted by speravi on March 17th, 2006
I am attempting to transfer a few GB of data from a computer running Win2000
(host) to one running XP Home Edition (guest). I have downloaded the data
onto an external USB hard drive. When I plug the USB hard drive into the
guest, the drivers are installed and all signs indicate that "The device is
working properly." However, no drive letter is assigned to the removable
drive in My Computer. I have double-checked this USB drive on the host
computer and it is indeed functioning properly. The external drive is a
Myson-Century device.
