USB Mass Storage Device
Posted by wetterfugal on January 31st, 2006

I have installed an Belkin external usb device with a 150 GB Maxtor HD with
two equal partitons. For lack of knowledge and instructions I have been using
it as installed without problems. After about four months I find that Windows
explorer does not recognise it, I uninstall it with device manager and search
for new hardware and it solves the problem then every time I start up theis
hard drive is missing, I sometime have to carryout the above procedure about
seven times before I can get it tecognised. Just now I was working and it
recognised itself.

In the past I have on one occasion had a number of corrupted jpg's and I
must admit that in the past I have unpluggeg the usb connection live. I have
also selected all files on the second partition which is now empty and
transferred them to my internal hard drive.

Can anyone offer a solution?
Regards V.A.

The problem could be the USB port. Check in Device Manager and turn off the
power managing feature for the USB.

Hi! Yves, There is no tab for Power Management on this device "USB Mass
Storage Device" There is only "General, Driver and Details" There are power
management tabs on other usb root hub lisings but not on the one I want.
regards, VA
