USB Storage Devices not showing
Posted by Shiver on January 26th, 2006

When I attach a USB storage device to my computer, such as a memory card
reader, or a digital camera, the device appears in the device manager, but in
My Computer it does not show any Removable hard drives to correspond with it.
It has previously so that I can open it up like a folder and drag and drop
things to and from it, but does not anymore.
Any suggestions?

Does it show up in Disk Management?

Right click My Computer -- Manage -- under Storage, click Disk Managment

I wanted to get RID of mine in WExplorer. Someone here suggested removing
the check mark in TweakUI under My Computer, Drives. Maybe yours are
unchecked.

After reading this thread, I now realize that I'm going to have to enable
mine again if I want to drag and drop files to my USB External HD!

If you have network drives mapped to the same drive letters that are being
used by your usb devices, you will not be able to see the usb devices
(that's why I always assign drive letter B: to my removeable drive or usb
memory stick). Unmap all network drives, then plug your usb device back in.
