- User not recognized as administrator
- Posted by l_od123@hotmail.com on March 22nd, 2008
When I try to edit the startup menu in msconfig.com, I receive an error
message that I should log on as an administrator when I am logged in as the
administrator. I am trying to stop the computer from loading MSoffice,
Acrobat 7.0 and a program called Motive. These delay the startup each time I
reboot. I tried to create a new user account also as administrator but it was
also not recognized by msconfig.

Msconfig really isnt the area to edit those services.Try
run,type:services.msc
In msc, double click on the service, set to "disable" "auto" or "manual"
start,close
out window when thru. Also, you may be one of the "Administrators" but youre
not running as thee "Administrator",the s in windows makes alot of
diffrence.

Thanks, Andrew. That did help. However, I did not see any of the applications
I am trying to change. MS Office, Adobe Reader or Motive (I am not sure what
Motive is, but it tries to launch Internet Explorer, unsuccessfully).

Thank you so much, BoJimbo. The Autoruns did the trick. My computer now boots
up very quickly and no unwanted programs. Have a great day!!
