I went to
retrieve it and get the message the volume label is too long. Then I tried
to retrieve some older data, that I had previously been able to access, and
get the same message. It ends up I get the same message for all files on the
USB drive. This drive has always worked and never been on any other machine.

Did you name the USB drive, I'm not sure if that is it but if you have set

Thanks for your reply. I didn't name the drive. I just inserted it and XP
named it E: I have, successfully, used it and some of the files on it
before.
