- Windows firewall

Somehow my firewall has become corrupt and I can't get into it, tried to find
a reinstall on windows download pages but nothing there. Problem is that the
corruption is blocking me from getting into my hobby BBS's so can't follow my
hobbies. The windows firewall is part of SP2 is it not ? Can someone tell
me how to repair or reinstall my windows firewall please, I've been trying
for 2 days to find a solution and it's hurting my brain. Bear in mind that I
CANNOT open the windows firewall on my computer. Thanks.

Now I have found a firewall error code (0x800706d9) what does this mean and
how do I fix it. Is there anyone out there or am I still talking to myself
????

Thanks Patrick. The thread was helpful and did actually clean up a lot of
crap and orphan files on my pc but I still don't have windows firewall. The
bloody thing is still blocking me from getting onto my BBS's, I can get onto
everything else but not my favorite bulletin boards. It's a bummer. Any
more ideas gratefully received, thanks for taking the time. Cheers
