Have you configured the desktop printer to be "shared"?
Have you setup a home network that allows the laptop to talk to the Desktop's "shared folders"?
Have you setup a new printer on the laptop by choosing "network printer" and then use the "browse"
button to locate the printer on your home network?

You need to give us more information.
Right know it sounds like you just have the internet connection setup for the computers, but not the
home network workgroup.
