- Write Access to root drive
- Posted by Ralf on April 9th, 2006
Good morning,
One of my programs requires write access to two files in my 'C' drive's root
drive. This works fine when running the program in Administrator mode but
returns a 'Unable to gain write access' when running as a normal user with
restricted rights. How can I allocate write access permission to these two
files when running as a normal user?
Thanks in advance.

Right click the program in the start menu and select run as a different user
and set it to run under your Adminstrator's account.
Hope this Helps,
Simon.

Thanks Simon but I that's not quite what I want. This is cumbersome for the
non-technical user (it's a guest house booking program). I'd like to set
permission from within an Administrator account thereby granting the normal
user access to these files whenever he/she logs on.
