We have 3 Windows XP pro laptops that are experiencing a very Slow (up to 10
minutes!) delay when login to the network. The XP desktops are not having
the same problem. Our office is devide into two subnets, 10.2.2.x and
10.2.3.x . The laptops in question are on the .3 subnet. We have only one DC
which is also our primary DNS (10.2.1.2). The DHCP (10.2.2.4) is a secondary
DNS server. The default gateway for .2 subnet is 10.2.2.1 and the .3 subnet
is 10.2.3.1. The scope options for the .2 subnet are ( ROUTER:10.2.2.1, DNS
Servers: 10.2.1.2/10.2.2.4 ). The scope options for the .3 subnet are (
ROUTER: 10.2.3.1, DNS Servers: 10.2.1.2/10.2.2.4, DNS Domain Name:
xxxxxxxx.corp ). We I try login in form the .2 subnet, the delay does not
change. The laptops are Dell Latitudes (D400 & D610), all with XP sp2 and
512 MB of Ram. All hardware drivers are uptodate and windows as well. All
other laptops and desktops in the company are not having this problem.
I've ran Netdiag utility with the /fix switch, removed computer account from
domain, deleted computer account in AD and rejoined domain with no luck. The
eventvwr shows error 1054 in the Application logs so I added registry entry
as per KB#840669, nothing changed. Any suggestion son fixing this problem.
Thanks
Eliud
