- XP Startup
- Posted by NV Bob on October 14th, 2005
Back in August I posted a XP startup problem. I would get a msg that Windows
didn't start successfully. Wes V. gave me instructions that solved the
problem-for a while. Now I have (intermittently) the same problem. Some of
things I did before to correct the problem was to disable IPSEC services and
TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper service. And installed UPHClean.
As before, I can start in the Safe mode and once there click Restart & get
started OK.
Any suggesetions on how to sovle this startup problem?
The event viewer lists the following error:
System
Source: DCOM
User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
DCOM got error "This service cannot be started in Safe Mode " attempting to
start the service EventSystem with arguments "" in order to run the server:

Try installing the microsoft BOOT_VIS start up utility, microsoft pitched
it a
couple of years ago but its still available from a 3rd party, try search at
google.
com Once on system, open, select, trace, optimize,it'll restart computer, then
ad-
just start up files when back on desktop.

I have a copy of BOOT_VIS.exe but have not tried it. I've heard varying
reports on it's effectiveness. Have you had good experience with it?
