- 2003 Office Pro installation on 2000 Server running Terminal Services
- Posted by Ted Langley on February 9th, 2004
I have been trying to install Office 2003 Professional on
a 2000 Server running Terminal Services. Everytime I try
to install Office 2k3 Pro, it gives me an error the one
of the CAB files is corrupt or there was an error reading
from the CD. It's a different CAB listed each time, I
have tried to load it both fromt the CD and have copied
the files to the hard drive. Either way it gives me the
same error.
I loaded the same cd onto a 2003 server after receiving
the error on the 2000 Server SP4 and it loaded without a
hitch.
Any suggestions? I have followed the KB article for
loading Office on a Server running Terminal Services and
it doesn't help. I've run "change user /install" and it
doesn't make a difference either.
Thanks,
Ted Langley

Don't install from the CD on TS, instead run "setup -a"
from a workstation to create an Administrative
Installation Point in a network share, from which you can
run the install on the TS, or any other computer. The
administrative install stores the installation key, and
can be updated with patches & service packs.
