Can I install both Office 2003 and Office 2000 on Windows XP Pro?
Posted by John Solomon on July 31st, 2004

I just bought a laptop with Windows XP Pro. It has Office 2003 Basic Edition
(only has Word, Excel and Outlook). I have Office 2000 Pro CDs. Can I
install Access, Powerpoint and Publisher from Office 2000 Pro CDs on my
laptop? Thank you in advance.

Hi John Solomon,
If your Office 2000 is an upgrade version you will not be able to do this. It will look for a prior version.
Otherwise, do a custom installation and select the applications you want to install. If you do editing for Power Point or Publisher you may want to add Photo Editor to your custom installation. Office 2003 includes Picture Manager, which is not that good. IMO

Also, you should review the KB article at

considerations when doing this.
