error 1335 when installing office home and student 2007
Posted by Colleen on January 11th, 2008

I'm installing on a Dell Inspiron w/ Vista. Getting error message 1335. The
cabinet file 'HomeSrWW.CAB" required for this installation is corrupt and
cannot be used. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from
the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package. When I bought the software I
successfully installed it on my other computer. It is licensed for 3 pc's.
This is only my second installation. Any suggestions?

Hi, Colleen,

There is an article that addresses the issue with previous versions of
Office:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314810/en-us

It may not apply directly, but some of the ideas in the article may help.
For example, try copying the CD to your hard drive and installing from
there, to eliminate CD drive issues.

It's not a licensing issue, but something on the CD or the PC is keeping it
from reading the CD properly.

Thank you mezzodiva. It works now. What I did was remove the CD and
started over again. It worked perfectly the second time. Go figure.
Thank you.
