Error during installation of Live Communications Server
Posted by Glen Wells on September 30th, 2003

Hi,

There is no newsgroup for Live Communications Server yet, so I am trying
here...

I get the following error during installation of Live Communications Server:

Error 27643. Error '0x8004100e' setting WMI security (adding access) on
namespace 'ROOT\CIMV2'.

This error seems to occur in other software when non-EN-US locale is used.
Our server is Windows 2003 Enterprise, configured to United Kingdom locale.

Anybody any ideas?

Thanks,
Glen

I asked the Live Communications Server group and they said that they have
seen this as the result of a virus on the system that causes the root\cimv2
namespace to become deleted.

The workaround would be to do this
mofcomp %windir%\system32\wbem\cimwin32.mof

and if it exists
mofcomp %windir%\system32\wbem\cimwin32.mfl

then retry your setup...

Oh yeah, a virus scan too.

Thanks. We had already found and fixed the blaster virus on this server.
Your response solved the installation problem (and maybe others we may have
had in the future..?) Much appreciated.
