- missing Windows Installer patch files (.MSP files) - now what?

Patch files (.MSP files) are missing and
I can't apply Office updates or uninstall old versions of
office. Of course, my office installation CD came from
the university so I can not access free email support
through MS.
Any advice?

Could also be msi files that are missing - not sure
