- office 2000 system policy for default user & existing users
- Posted by John@nospam.co.uk on July 24th, 2003
Hi,
I am trying to set a system policy for a group of terminal servers that
sets the user templates file location for existing installations of word
2000.
I want this policy to apply to all existing terminal server profiles at
user logon and to all new terminal server profiles that are created.
I'm having a little trouble achieving this as the instructions in the
documentation don't seem to match up with the available menu options.
I can save a .pol file with the file location settings applied. Opening
the policy and double clicking on the default user icon confirms that
the setting has been saved in the policy. Would this policy apply to
existing profiles/users? If it would, where do I need to save this .pol
file on the terminal server for it to work. If it doesn't apply to
existing users/profiles, what do I need to do?

Thanks anyway, I worked out how to do it myself.
On Windows 2000 - Open group policy for the local computer. Go to User
Configuration / Administrative Templates. Right Click on the
Administrative templates and select add/remove templates. Select the
office9.adm file.
You can now set office 9 policys for the local computer.
