Office 2000 Windows Installer 'Patch Package' Problem
Posted by ed on June 5th, 2004

H
Im trying to reinstall parts of Office 2000 onto my XP based machine
I recently used Tracks Eraser trial software to give my pc a spring clean and first lost the icons for Excel and Word in my start menu (the names still showed but with 'blank' icons). I got them back eventually by creating new shortcuts but i trie
to rerun my Office install disks (i wanted to install Powerpoint) and i get an error message either if i click on setup when i explore the cdrom or if i use the change button in Control panel add remove after ive located the Data1.msi file

This message : This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that tihs is a valid Windows Installer patch package

Any ideas? Its genuine Office 2000 disks ive had for a number of years with no problems
Thanks
