Office 2007 Setup included security patches in directory UPDATES
Posted by Thörsti on August 14th, 2007

Hello,

I have to install Office Professional plus 2007 tried adapted, in which I
had provided an adapted.msp file with the Office Customization-Tool.

So far so well - I put the adpated .msp-File in the directory UPDATE and ran
setup.exe automatically.

In addition, I read that Security-Patch-Files can simply put in teh
directory UPDATE and these would be installed automatically with the
installation process.

After I put the files:

excel2007-kb934670-fullfile-x86-glb.exe
excel2007-kb936509-fullfile-x86-glb.exe
office2007-kb933688-fullfile-x86-glb.exe
office2007-kb934062-fullfile-x86-glb.exe
office2007-kb934390-fullfile-x86-glb.exe
office2007-kb934391-fullfile-x86-glb.exe
office2007-kb934393-fullfile-x86-glb.exe
office2007-kb934395-fullfile-x86-glb.exe
office2007-kb936514-fullfile-x86-glb.exe
outlook2007-kb933493-fullfile-x86-glb.exe
publisher2007-kb936646-fullfile-x86-glb.exe
SaveAsPDFandXPS.exe

into the directory UDATES, again Office was installed, but the following
updates were NOT installed:

excel2007-kb936509-fullfile-x86-glb.exe
office2007-kb934062-fullfile-x86-glb.exe
office2007-kb936514-fullfile-x86-glb.exe
publisher2007-kb936646-fullfile-x86-glb.exe
SaveAsPDFandXPS.exe

Please can someone explain to me? Doesn't the mechanism function thus
correctly, or what I do wrong????

Thanks in advance,

T.

You will want to extract the .msp files out of the patches (.exes).

The command to do this would be excel2007-kb936509-fullfile-x86-glb.exe
/extract.

The .msp files would go in the updates folder not the .exes.
