- Office 2007 Trial Software Install questions
- Posted by BrawlyColossus on January 9th, 2008
Hello All. I am considering a purchase of MS Ofc 2007 Pro. Currently, I
have MS Ofc 2003 Pro. I would like to evaluate the software first and would
like to download the trial version.
My first question is, will I have to uninstall Ofc 2003 first? Or will Ofc
2007 upgrade my existing software?
Secondly, after entering the trial activation key will I be able to access
Ofc 2007 as many times as I like during the 60 day trial? I ask this because
the instructions indicate that Ofc 2007 trial can be opened 25 times before
it has to be activated? Sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm just a
little confused with the explanation.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

You can leave Office 2003 installed but you can only have one version of
Outlook at a time. If you want to try Outlook 2007, you will have to
uninstall Outlook 2003. If you aren't sure about whether you're going to
upgrade, don't "upgrade" 2003, run both versions. If you don't, you'll have
to reinstall the old software.
By entering the product key, you've activated it and then have your 60 days.
If you don't enter the key, then you are limited to the number of times you
can open Office.

Thanks JoAnn for responding. You have answered my questions. I think I will
uninstall Ofc 2003 and run the 60 day trial of Ofc 2007. It has been my
experience that removing older software for newer has given me less problems
and a better experience.

I don't normally recommend trial software. I've read about too many issues
when it comes time to go with the full version. I'd run both until I had the
full version DVD in hand, uninstall the trial, and install the "fer-real"
software. Yes, I know, it's more work but sometimes it's best to err on the
side of caution.

supposing you don't have a disc as the program came with the computer - how
are you supposed to get 2003 back then? Would MS help?

It's VERY unusual for pre-installed office NOT to come with a CD - you need
to contact your vendor as to why they didn't supply one...
