- office activation

New computer--windows xp, office activation keeps asking
for ID. I thought that it was readable by internet
activation and you did not need the actual ID. Office was
preinstalled,
I don't remember a CD. Also, could downloading programs
like media player
off the internet interfere with the activation? thanks

I don't believe that sp2 has been downloaded yet.

This is rubbish!! Nothing wrong with SP2. It is the Microsoft's wonderdrug everybody should be taking it.
If Sally is using a genuine product then she is likely to have problems!!! Microsoft's activation service is designed to give as much trouble as possible to innocent users such as Sally while pirates don't have any such problems. This is Microsoft's way of doing business.

I use non Microsoft products wherever possible which requires no activation.
I use Netscape 7.2 as my default browser which has everything I need for my work.

Wow a insiders report! Um Dave..... Not all pc's are the same. Different
software different hardware and different users habits. There's virus's
spyware malware and other forces that affect peoples systems. As we expect
one wonder patch to work on everybody's pc?
That's like doctored prescribing penicillin for every person that comes in
with a infection. There's different antibiotics but they all try to do one
thing. MS has only one patch to "cure" every users. From virus writing
hacking spyware infecting malicious users on the planet. Plus they have
hundreds of thousands of software packages that are supposed to work with
the fix? SP2 has broken some activation issues and it is documented.
Your contribution to resolving Sally's issue it totally out standing!!!!
(round of golf claps for Dave)

Hey clippy,
Can you now translate your garbage in English please.
I agree with Dave. There is nothing wrong with SP2. Your brain might need
a patch of some sort.
Thanks
