Hello, we have a few Tablet PCs that have a trial for Office Pro 2007
installed on them. we had purchased Office 2007 Basic keys from another
vender, and put in the Key, it said it actavated Word/Outlook/Excel but now
when we go to open Word/Outlook/Excel it asks us to actavate the rest of the
programs, and tells us they can only be run X more times.
I removed the other versions from Add/Remove but it still asks us to
actavate them. I was under the impression that the trial would convert to
whatever version the key belongs to. was I told wrong?

So, now you'll have to uninstall both and reinstall the real thing and,

A. NO . An edition of office 07 will not accept any other edition Key.
your word , XL, outlook will be full version,
and there is no harm in activating trial Pro 2007.
