running different versions of office concurrently
Posted by sally on April 10th, 2004

hi,

i've been running office 2000 plus word '97 (individually)
in the windows '98 environment

i plan to get a new computer with windows xp; i also plan
to get office professional 2003

i prefer office 2000 and word 97; can i run these programs
in the xp environment, i.e., will they run properly; or do
i have to work only in office 2003?

thanx,

sally

They will work in the new OS but ensure that the programs are retail
versions and did not come with the older computer pre-installed. If they
were preinstalled, that means that the installations are OEM and cannot be
moved from the machine on which they were installed by the manufacturer.

No -- if it is from the computer manufacturer (OEM) it cannot be used.

But, to add one thing to what Mercury said, they cannot be installed but can
be used for proof of a qualifying product if you wish to purchase a later
upgrade edition.
