- Upgrade from Office 97 to Office 2003
- Posted by Adam on October 9th, 2003
My company is looking at upgrading from Office 97 to
Office 2003. I am wanting to know all the possible
problems that I may encounter. Like if there will be
problems with e-mail changes or e-mail accounts have to be
reset with outlook, will the whole thing crash. What are
the biggest problems that could occur during the upgrade,
that I should be aware of.

Probably the most important thing to know is that it will only install on
Windows 2000 with SP3 or Windows XP operating systems.
For other system requirements, see

And, if the current upgrade rules still apply, that 97 > 2003 won't be a
valid upgrade path as the last two versions only will qualify.

Actually, Office 97 will be a valid product for upgrade eligibility - see
this page for details:
http://www.microsoft.com/office/prev...ng/upgrade.asp
Also please note that some recent versions of Microsoft Works now qualify as
well for Office suites.

I think that they got too many complaints about the upgrade eligibility for
Office XP and decided to be a bit more inclusive of their own products.
However, there is still no competitive upgrade - wonder why?
